The cost of childcare has more than doubled since 2015, from 48.7 to 102.5 million euros. The number of places grew by 15 per cent over the same period. For 2026 the city is planning 118 fewer places than for 2025, at costs 3.7 million euros higher.

The video summarises, the report documents: there you will find the annual table from 2015 to 2026, three charts and the references in the city’s budget documents. To the childcare check 2015 to 2026.

The video only loads once you start it. It does not play by itself, and it does not measure who is watching.

CHECK

What was checked before publication

  • The video shows the same figures as the report “Doppelt so teuer, kaum mehr Plätze: Paderborns Kita-Absurdität”. What has been checked is that no figure in the video differs from the table in the report.
  • The sources are in the report, not in the video. Anyone who wants to look up a figure follows the link below the player.
  • The last slides of the video are assessment, not finding: they set out the demands of this editorial team.
